Ice Cream Fever,” the first film directed by Tetsuya Chihara, who is also the founder of KISS, TOKYO, will be shown at TOHO CINEMAS Hibiya, Shibuya Cine Quint, and other theaters nationwide on July 14 (Friday).
The film is based on “Ice Cream Fever,” which is included in the short story collection “Ai no Yume toka” (Kodansha Bunko) by Akutagawa Award-winning author Mieko Kawakami, one of the most popular writers in the world. The film is based on Mieko Kawakami’s worldview, uniquely portrayed and visualized by Chihara.
It is a love story in which the thoughts and lives of four women in their teens to thirties who are living today intersect.
Riho Yoshioka plays Natsumi Tsuneda, a woman in her late 20s who is on the verge of giving up on her dreams; Serena Motola plays Saho Hashimoto, a woman in her early 20s who is too frightened by life to take the first step; Utaha (Wednesday Campanella) plays Takako Kuwashima, a woman in her late teens who does not yet know what love is; and Marika Matsumoto plays Yu Takashima, a woman in her late 30s who is still in the middle of a life rut. Yu Takashima is played by Marika Matsumoto, who is in her late thirties and is trying to cover up the ruts in her life. The cast of other memorable characters includes Yumi Adachi, Junpei Goto (Jarujaru), Hattori (Macaroni Enpitsu), Hairi Katagiri, MEGUMI, and others.
KISS, TOKYO is also a co-sponsor of the film, and some KISS, TOKYO items appear in the film.
